The paper titled, "A Wearable Fiber-Free Optical Sensor for Continuous Monitoring of Cerebral Blood Flow in Freely Behaving Mice," was authored by eight UK researchers in the colleges of engineering and medicine. 

Faraneh Fathi Awarded SPIE Optics and Photonics Education Scholarship

Faraneh Fathi, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, has been awarded a $4,000 Optics and Photonics Education Scholarship by SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, for potential contributions to the field of optics, photonics, or related field.

UK Invites Community to Celebrate its 100th E-Day Open House

A decades-long tradition, UK Engineering held its first E-Day on May 26, 1921. The university dismissed classes at noon to allow the community to tour the college and see its researchers and students in action. Now, an estimated 3,000 people attend E-Day each year.

Sheng Tong Wins NIH Award for Innovative Gene Editing Approach to Treat Blood Disorders

Sheng Tong, associate professor in the F. Joseph Halcomb III, M.D. Department of Biomedical Engineering, and a multi-disciplinary team, including Ying Liang, associate professor in the College of Medicine, has won a National Institute of Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute R21 Award for his cutting-edge work on gene editing techniques to treat genetic blood disorders.

Fall 2022 Dean's List Includes 1,034 Engineering Students

The University of Kentucky has released its Dean's List for the Fall 2022 semester. A total of 5,631 students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance – 1,034 were from the College of Engineering.

Joyce Evans is Inducted into the Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame

Joyce Evans, a senior research associate in the F. Joseph Halcomb III, M.D. Department of Biomedical Engineering from 1970 to 2019, was inducted into the Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame in October.
